Australian favourite Country Road has partnered with renowned Adelaide artist Julie White to create a special collection of throws. White, known for her colourful, hand-drawn designs inspired by nature, brings her unique style to this collaboration. She describes the limited edition collection as a “bold, colourful, depiction of joy through colour, shape and form”.

After a year of working together, they’ve launched a range of limited-edition throws. Each one is crafted from a luxurious wool-cashmere blend and features a one-of-a-kind print celebrating Australia’s native flora.

“My home for inspiration has always been the Australian landscape. I get pretty emotional just being there. The flora and fauna just have so much personality,” says White of her creative process. “I’m lucky to live in South Australia where beautiful bush walks and beaches are close by. I like to soak it all up, then when I’m in the studio, I draw from memory and my imagination.”

Country Road has collaborated with White as part of their Winter 2024 collection to create three distinct limited editions throws, inspired by one-eyed wattle, gum blossoms and gumnuts. “It all started with looking intently at some eucalyptus blossoms. They were so bright and alive—like little fireworks in my hand—and I knew I wanted to capture that feeling,” White says of the designs.

This line of Australiana themed designs comes amidst Country Road’s collaboration with the National Gallery of Victoria First Nation Commissions to recognise NAIDOC week. This inaugural workshop and exhibition series showcases the works of eight First Nations artists all responding to the theme of “My Country”.

It seems fitting for Country Road to simultaneously collaborate with a local artist to create textiles inspired by the native Australian landscape.

White speaks highly of working alongside Country Road. “The Country Road team was great at giving me space to explore ideas. After about a year of development, I’m really proud of how these designs came to life… Obviously Country Road is such an iconic, enduring Australian brand so it was such an honour when I was approached to collaborate on this homewares range. But I just loved connecting with such an amazing team of creative and kind people. I love that the throw designs feel true to both of our aesthetics coming together and represents a contemporary Australian look I know will stand the test of time, which is so quintessentially Country Road!”

You can find White’s designs online and in store at Country Road and support a local artist. Each luxurious throw made from a soft blend of wool and cashmere retails for $349 and according to White will “last in homes for many years.”
