South Australians have a huge opportunity this weekend to witness a historic moment in local soccer as Adelaide United Women prepare to face Melbourne Victory in a highly anticipated semi-final at Coopers Stadium. This monumental match is set for this Sunday, May 4th at 3.30pm, marking it as the biggest stage yet for the Adelaide United Women’s team.

The upcoming semi-final will be hosted at upgraded Coopers Stadium. The $53.5 million upgrades were a part of the South Australian Government’s Women’s World Cup Legacy initiative, which aimed to inspire future female athletes and establish Adelaide as a leader in promoting women’s sports.

The match comes after a remarkable season for Adelaide United Women, who have dramatically turned their fortunes around from last season’s last-place finish. They are now just two games away from potentially securing a spot in the Ninja A-League Women 2025 Grand Final, and are in with a chance of hosting the final game.

Adding to the excitement, this match rekindles the “Original Rivalry” against Melbourne Victory. The encounter adds to the huge lineup of major sporting events already hosted in South Australia this year.

For those keen to support, member pre-sale tickets kicked off today at 12:30pm, with general public sales beginning at 3:00pm. Tickets are available through the Ticketek Australia website.

Zoe Bettison, the Minister for Tourism shared, “South Australia is not only a leading destination for major sporting events but is also home to incredible sporting talent. It has been an absolute thrill to follow the success of Adelaide United Women’s team during what has been a history-making season for the team; their drive, flair and togetherness have been truly inspiring.

“This is the opportunity for all of us here to rally behind our Reds and write a new chapter in South Australian sporting history. We encourage as many of our community as possible to come out to Coopers Stadium this Sunday and cheer on the Reds at what promises to be another thrilling sporting event.”

Nathan Kosmina, CEO of Adelaide United, also shared, “This Sunday represents one of the biggest matches for the Club in recent memory, against our biggest rival, on the back of what has been the most successful season since our inception into the W-League in 2008.

“We encourage the South Australian football community to get behind the team at Coopers Stadium and help create an atmosphere that reflects the significance of the match.”

This weekend’s match not only promises high-quality sports entertainment but also serves as a crucial step in advancing the profile and success of women’s football in South Australia.
