The Adelaide Hills, both locals and visitors, have been crying out for a quality vegan and vegetarian café, and now it’s finally happening. Veggie Vie, the cult plant-based café adored in the city, is expanding into Hahndorf with a brand new second venue opening soon.
If you’ve walked past their colourful city location on McHenry Street, Adelaide, you’ve probably noticed it is always buzzing. Now, that same energy is heading for the Hills.
With Hahndorf’s love of fresh produce, seasonal dining and outdoor charm, this leafy spot where Italian restaurant Il Mulino once was, is a natural fit for the Veggie Vie philosophy.
“At Veggie Vie, our core belief is simple. We don’t want to kill animals and put them on plates,” says owner Priya.
“That’s the heart behind everything we do. Hahndorf is such a beautiful, welcoming place, and we felt it was the perfect community to continue sharing our message of compassion and delicious plant-based food.”
It is bold, honest, and refreshingly real, just like their food.
The team at Veggie Vie have established a name for themselves with fresh, flavour-forward vegan food that even carnivores have been known to fall hard for.
“We don’t rely on processed foods. Everything is made from scratch in-house. From vibrant salads to hearty hotpots and our popular burgers, our menu brings over 100 unique flavours under one roof,” explains Priya.
Their vegan lentil and chickpea burger has earned a cult following in Adelaide, and it will be heading to the Hills too, alongside a few new surprises.
“The Hahndorf menu will feature many of our fan favourites, but we’re also planning to introduce some new dishes inspired by the Hills’ seasonal produce and relaxed charm.”
This second venue is not a carbon copy it will be a Hills inspired full expression of what makes Veggie Vie special.
The new space will continue to offer the same warm, community vibe that city fans have come to love.
“We’ve always aimed to create a space where everyone feels welcome, vegan or not,” Priya says.
“Our team is passionate, friendly, and genuinely committed to making each guest feel at home.”
And it is not just about food. It is about purpose.
“We want people to see vegan food not as a compromise but as a joyful, nourishing way to live,” says Priya.
“It is about abundance, not restriction.”
With plans to open soon and the promise of future collaborations down the track, this is not the last you’ll hear of Veggie Vie in South Australia. But right now, all eyes are on Hahndorf.
“Our mission is to keep spreading the message of plant-based living by offering fresh, protein-rich, and delicious food to more people,” Priya says.
