The Adelaide forecast is in for today and the weekend, and it looks like some typical Winter weather for this weekend’s Winter Reds festival in the Adelaide Hills. Umbrellas and coast will be in order, with cool temperatures, rain and possible light hail on the cards.

Today is another mixed bag of weather across Adelaide and South Australia, with the Bureau of Meteorology reporting light showers and moderate winds for later today. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 17°C with a 40% probability of rain, up to a possible 3mm.

The forecast indicates that southern suburbs are likely to experience higher chances of showers which might occur later in the day. Winds will range between 20 to 30km/h from the north to northwesterly in the morning, shifting west to northwesterly at 15 to 25km/h in the afternoon.

In contrast, differing weather conditions are observed in the northern parts of South Australia. Moomba, Marree, Coober Pedy, Woomera, Port Augusta, Renmark, and Waikerie all savour sunny skies today, with temperatures hovering around a comfortable 20°C. These areas are all expecting partly cloudy to clear conditions.

The BOM has issued wind warnings for several coastal areas today, continuing on from active warnings over the last two days. A gale warning is in place for the Lower South East Coast, with strong wind warnings also announced for the Lower West Coast, Central Coast, South Central times Coast, Investigator Strait, and Upper South East Coast. These conditions highlight the need for caution among those venturing into or currently in these maritime areas.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Adelaide’s weather appears less favourable. Saturday will begin with a minimum temperature of 8°C and will see daytime temperatures rise to only 13°C. Showers are expected to be more frequent, with rainfall potentially reaching between 2 to 8mm and a 90% chance of any rain. There’s also a change for small hail in the late morning and afternoon. Winds are predicted to be southwesterly at 20 to 30km/h but will decrease towards the evening.

Sunday will usher in a cooler start at 5°C, climbing to a maximum of 14°C. It will remain largely cloudy with a slim chance of rain. The following Monday encourages a sunnier outlook with a forecasted sunny day and negligible chances of rain, maintaining the start at 5°C, peaking at 15°C.

As the week progresses, conditions are expected to mildly improve. Tuesday projects mostly sunny skies with temperatures between 6°C and 16°C. The pattern continues into Wednesday and Thursday with similar temperature ranges and mostly sunny conditions.
