Adelaide weather forecast for Friday 2nd August

Adelaide’s weekend weather brings partly cloudy skies with a chance of showers and strong winds.

Adelaide residents can expect a mixed bag of weather conditions over the coming days with forecasts predicting partly cloudy skies and occasional showers. As detailed by the Bureau of Meteorology, the Adelaide area will see partly cloudy conditions today, with a slight possibility of a shower during the afternoon and evening. Winds will tend to be northerly at 15 to 25 km/h, switching to northwesterly during the middle of the day and then easing off in the late afternoon. We can expect a top of 17 degrees.

For those planning ahead, Saturday will likely be mostly sunny after potential morning fog around the northern suburbs. Winds should remain light throughout the day. Temperatures will range from a minimum of 6°C to a maximum of 16°C. The chance of rain is fairly low at 20%.

By Sunday, the weather will continue to be partly cloudy with similar temperatures, ranging from 6°C to 17°C. Like Saturday, there’s a slight chance of a shower and wind conditions will pick up slightly, becoming east to northeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h during the day before calming in the afternoon.

In terms of wind warnings, there is a strong wind warning in effect today for the South Central Coast, Upper South East Coast, and Lower South East Coast. Meanwhile, the warning has been lifted for the Lower West Coast and Central Coast regions.

Looking further across South Australia, conditions vary significantly. In Nuriootpa, the weather is also partly cloudy with the temperature reaching up to 17°C. Victor Harbor and Mount Barker might experience possible showers with temperatures reaching 16°C and 15°C respectively. Parawa and Stirling are cooler, with Parawa potentially experiencing showers at 12°C and Stirling staying partly cloudy at 13°C. Strathalbyn could see a shower or two with a maximum of 16°C.

The broader South Australian forecast indicates that a ridge of high pressure will maintain north to northeasterly winds across the region today. However, a weakening cold front currently moving through the SA coast will shift winds to a southerly direction by the day’s end. Over the weekend, a cloud band from central Australia is expected to bring rain to northern and western parts of SA.

Today, isolated showers are predicted to spread across the western and southern parts of the state. They should clear later from the west. There is also a potential for thunderstorms near the western border with conditions near or above average temperatures ahead of the change but will drop below average following the wind shift.

For Saturday, residents in the south can expect patchy morning fog and frost, isolated showers mainly around southern coastal districts, and possible small hail near the coasts. Rain will develop over the far west and temperatures will remain below average. By Sunday, rain will move over the north and west, particularly in the North West Pastoral and West Coast districts, accompanied by isolated showers around southern coastal districts.

Overall, the weekend and start of the next week will see varying temperatures and a mix of sun, rain, and potential thunderstorms across South Australia. Residents should plan accordingly and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts via the BOM website.
