Adelaide will experience a warm and increasingly hot stretch of summer weather over the coming days, with sunshine dominating and temperatures steadily climbing toward the mid-30s by midweek.
For the rest of Friday, Adelaide will sit at a mild but breezy 26 degrees under partly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of a light shower about the hills and southern suburbs during the morning and early afternoon, though most of the metropolitan area will remain dry. Fresh south to southeasterly winds will persist through the day, keeping temperatures below average. UV levels are forecast to peak at an extreme rating of 12, with sun protection recommended from mid-morning through late afternoon.
Saturday will see a return to more classic summer conditions. A sunny day is forecast with temperatures climbing to 31 degrees following an overnight low of 16. Southeasterly winds will ease and shift during the day, with dry conditions expected across the city.
By Sunday, the heat builds further, with Adelaide set to reach 34 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Winds will shift throughout the day, starting from the east before turning south to southwesterly in the afternoon, offering some late relief from the heat. UV levels are expected to climb even higher, reaching an extreme rating of 13.
Early next week brings some fluctuation, but the warmth sticks around. Monday will be sunny with a top of 29 degrees, before temperatures rise again on Tuesday to 33 degrees as cloud clears through the day. By Wednesday and Thursday, Adelaide will be firmly back in hot summer territory, with consecutive days forecast to reach 35 degrees under sunny skies.
There are strong wind warnings in place today for Adelaide Metropolitan Waters, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, Gulf St Vincent, Investigator Strait, Upper South East Coast and Lower South East Coast.
