We have a chilly and damp week incoming, according to the latest forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology. Adelaide is set to experience a series of rainy days as a low-pressure system moves across South Australia, bringing significant cold fronts and troughs.
Today, the weather conditions in Adelaide will remain cool but mostly dry, with a maximum temperature of 19 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Winds are expected to range from north to northeasterly at speeds of 15 to 25 km/h. There is a slight chance of showers over the hills and southern suburbs early this morning.
The weather is expected to take a wetter turn starting tomorrow. Temperatures will dip to a minimum of 11 degrees and reach a maximum of only 16 degrees. Showers are very likely, with rainfall amounts forecasted to be between 1 to 8 mm. The day will see cloudy skies and high chances of showers increasing during the late morning. Wind directions will shift from north to northeasterly to northwesterly throughout the day, reaching speeds of 20 to 30 km/h.
On Sunday, the rain is expected to ease a bit, but we can still anticipate a high likelihood of morning showers. The day will start with partly cloudy conditions, and the maximum temperature will again peak at 16 degrees. Winds will initially blow from the northwest at 20 to 25 km/h before easing and becoming lighter by the evening.
The cooler and wet conditions will continue throughout the early part of next week. Monday through Thursday will experience maximum temperatures ranging from 13 degrees to 15 degrees, with frequent showers. The weather is set to improve slightly by Friday, with showers easing by then.
A handful of weather warnings have been issued by the Bureau of Meteorology for South Australia. Strong wind warnings are in place for today for the Far West Coast, South Central Coast, and Lower South East Coast districts. Tomorrow, these warnings will extend to include the Upper West Coast, Lower West Coast, Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, and remain for the South Central and Lower South East Coasts.
A flood warning has been issued for several inland rivers. Elevated river levels have been reported at Poothapoota Waterhole along the Warburton River and at Cullyamurra Waterhole along Cooper Creek. The floodwaters are receding slowly but still pose a risk to low-lying areas and river crossings, potentially affecting travel and access within these regions.
