As we approach the weekend, we’ll be met with varied weather conditions over the coming days. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Adelaide’s residents can expect a changeable weather pattern, providing a mix of sun and showers.
Today, Adelaide will experience a top temperature of 23 degrees with a 70 per cent chance of rainfall between 0 to 4 mm throughout the day. There’s an expected influx of showers, particularly in the late morning and afternoon, coupled with a possible thunderstorm in the early hours. Winds will shift from northwest to northeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h in the morning and will change direction from south to southwesterly later in the day.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will bring cooler air with a high of only 18 degrees and predominantly cloudy skies. Whilst the chance of rain is minimal, a brief shower in the early morning could not be ruled out. The southerly winds will breeze through at a pace of 25 to 35 km/h.
On Sunday, the temperature slightly increases, reaching 19 degrees. Despite the cloud cover, the rainfall possibility remains quite low at a 30 per cent chance, predominantly during the morning and afternoon hours. The wind patterns will be milder, starting light and south to southwesterly at 15 to 25 km/h, then dying down by evening.
Across South Australia a moving low-pressure system and cold front over the central parts will be seen, pushing towards the eastern regions. A cooler southeasterly airstream will follow. Over the weekend, this will give way to a high-pressure ridge moving in from the west. The state can expect isolated showers mainly along coastal and southern agricultural areas throughout the next few days.
A weather warning has been issued for sheep graziers in various districts including Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Flinders, Mid North, Murraylands, Upper South East, and Lower South East. The conditions of cold temperatures, rain and southerly winds are believed to pose a risk of losses of lambs and sheep. Additionally, a strong wind warning is in place for coastal waters of Adelaide and surrounding areas for both Friday and Saturday.
Happy Friday!
