Adelaide residents are bracing for a chilly and wet start to the week! The Bureau of Meteorology has provided a detailed forecast indicating a band of showers and cooler temperatures sweeping across the region.
Adelaide residents can expect a chilly Monday with temperatures reaching a maximum of just 17 degrees, accompanied by showers. These conditions are well below the August average and denote a significant drop from the usual winter temperatures. The showers, with a 90% chance of rainfall ranging from 2 to 9 mm, are most likely to occur from late this morning onwards. These weather conditions are expected to persist through Tuesday and Wednesday, which will have similar rainy landscapes and slightly cooler temperatures, lingering around 15 degrees.
Looking ahead, the weather will start to clear up by Thursday, with partly cloudy skies anticipated and temperatures reaching up to 15 degrees. The skies are expected to clear further towards the weekend. By Saturday, bright sunny weather is forecast with a maximum temperature of 17 degrees, warming slightly to 19 degrees by Sunday under mostly sunny skies.
In addition to the regular weather updates, several weather warnings have been issued. A warning for sheep graziers is in effect for the Mount Lofty Ranges and Kangaroo Island. The predicted cold temperatures, showers, and strong northwesterly winds pose a threat to livestock, particularly lambs and sheep, which might be susceptible to the harsh conditions through early Tuesday.
Marine conditions are also turbulent, with a gale warning issued for multiple coastal areas including the Far West Coast and Central Coast. These conditions are expected to persist until Tuesday midnight, with strong wind warnings for surrounding coastal areas like Adelaide Metropolitan Waters and the Gulf St Vincent.
As the state tackles the cold front, clarity follows later in the week with a high-pressure system moving in, giving way to clearer and calmer conditions.
