Adelaide weather forecast for Monday December 1st and the days ahead

Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month! Here’s what to expect from the weather today, and a look at the days to come.

Baby, in the summertime, that is where I’ll be! Happy first day of the month. In typical Adelaide fashion, residents can expect a mixed bag of weather this week, with a shifting pattern bringing cooler conditions to start before temperatures quickly climb mid-week. According to the latest advice from the Bureau of Meteorology, the city is set for everything from morning showers to a burst of early-summer warmth, followed by a return to milder days ahead of the weekend.

Today begins on the cooler side, with a maximum of twenty degrees and a run of morning showers pushing through. There’s a fifty per cent chance of rain, with up to two millimetres possible. As the day progresses, conditions ease and winds gradually swing from southwesterly in the morning to southerly into the evening.

The weather improves slightly on Tuesday. After an overnight minimum of eleven degrees, Adelaide will warm to twenty-two degrees under clearing cloud and increasing sunshine. Winds will stay gentle throughout the day, shifting from the south-west to the west.

A dramatic change arrives on Wednesday, when temperatures take a sharp leap. The day will start at a mild fourteen degrees before soaring to a warm thirty degrees beneath mostly sunny skies. Winds will lift during the afternoon, moving from the north to the north-west, adding to the warm feel of the day. Temperatures are expected to hold in the low thirties through Thursday, delivering a taste of early summer.

By Friday, conditions take a step down again with a sunny twenty-five degree day forecast for the city, ahead of a slightly unsettled weekend. Saturday brings the chance of a shower and a top of twenty-two degrees, while Sunday is shaping up to be the pick of the two with sunny skies and a comfortable twenty-four degrees.

Several warnings are currently in place for parts of South Australia. A Warning to Sheep Graziers has been issued for the Mid North and Lower South East districts, with cold temperatures, showers and strong southwesterly winds posing risks for lambs and vulnerable stock. Producers are advised to take precautions where possible.

On the water, strong wind warnings remain active for a number of coastal regions including the Central Coast, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, Upper South East Coast and Lower South East Coast. Boaters and fishers are urged to stay across the latest marine forecasts before heading out.

Across the state, isolated showers are expected to contract southwards over the coming days as a high-pressure system brings settled conditions for a short spell. Another low-pressure trough is forecast to move through mid-week, increasing the chance of showers and signalling the next shift in the pattern as we move further into December.
