Adelaide weather forecast for Monday July 7th and the days ahead

Expect a chilly week with showers and cold fronts, according to the latest from the Bureau of Meteorology.

As South Australians prepare for a bout of cooler temperatures, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued its latest forecasts and warnings for inclement weather conditions across the region. The coming days are set to bring a mix of showers and cold fronts, particularly affecting Adelaide.

Today, Adelaide remains under cloudy skies with occasional showers, lessening by the afternoon. The temperature will peak at a cool 16 degrees, accompanied by northerly winds of 25 to 35 km/h. Residents in the northern suburbs might notice fog patches early today, which will likely clear as the day progresses.

The weather takes a turn on Tuesday, with temperatures ranging from 10 degrees to a maximum of 15 degrees. The day will start with rain, transitioning to showers as it progresses, with potentially damaging winds. North to northwesterly winds are expected to surge up to 45 km/h, shifting westerly in the morning before strengthening again in the evening.

Wednesday offers no respite as the showers continue, supported by a very high chance of precipitation. Temperatures will struggle to reach above 13 degrees. Strong northwesterly winds between 25 to 40 km/h will switch to westerly later in the day, adding a chill to the wet conditions.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week, showers will gradually ease by Thursday, with temperatures lingering around 14 degrees. The possibility of light showers and cooler weather continues until the weekend, with Saturday expected to bring some sunshine and temperatures up to 16 degrees.

Broader South Australia faces various weather challenges. A strong cold front is advancing across the southern parts of the state, promising a spell of gusty showers and thunderstorms, particularly near coastal areas and the southern pastoral districts. This activity is forecasted to persist into mid-week, followed by brief calmer periods as a high-pressure ridge makes its way into the region from the west.

There are specific alerts for mariners. Strong wind warnings are in place for the Upper West Coast, Lower West Coast, Central Coast, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, Investigator Strait, Upper South East Coast, and Lower South East Coast. A Gale Warning is particularly noted for the Far West Coast for both today and Tuesday.

A flood warning remains effective for the Inland Rivers of South Australia, particularly affecting the Warburton River at Poothapoota Waterhole and the Cooper Creek at Cullyamurra Waterhole, where water levels continue to recede slowly.
