Adelaide weather forecast for Monday May 18 and the days ahead

Happy Monday! Here’s the weather for April 18 and what to expect in the days ahead.

Adelaide is heading into a cool, mostly settled week, with a few showers to start things off before brighter conditions arrive later in the working week.

Today in Adelaide will be partly cloudy, with patchy morning fog giving way to a medium chance of showers, most likely from late morning into the afternoon. The city is headed for a top of 19 degrees, with light winds tending west to southwesterly through the early afternoon before easing again at night. Tuesday looks to be the wettest day of the seven-day stretch, with a high chance of showers, especially in the morning, and a top of 19 degrees after a minimum of 13. Westerly winds will turn south to southwesterly during the day, making it feel a touch brisker around exposed suburbs and along the coast.

By Wednesday, Adelaide keeps that cool autumn pattern going. It will stay partly cloudy, with the chance of morning fog around the hills and a medium chance of a shower or two through the morning and afternoon. Temperatures will again peak at 19 degrees after an overnight low of 11.

Thursday brings the clearest break in the run of unsettled weather, with a mostly sunny forecast, just a slight chance of rain, and a top of 20 degrees after a chilly 9-degree start.

Friday continues that calmer pattern, with mostly sunny skies, light winds and another top of 20 degrees. It’s shaping up as the pick of the weekdays for anyone keen to make the most of some dry weather. The weekend, though, brings cloud back into the picture.

Saturday is forecast to be cloudy, with a medium chance of showers and a top of 19 degrees. Northerly winds will shift northwesterly during the morning.

Sunday stays partly cloudy with another medium chance of showers, and light winds becoming southeast to southwesterly as the day goes on. The temperature will hold steady at 19 degrees, making for a fairly cool but manageable end to the week.

Across South Australia, the broader pattern is being driven by a ridge of high pressure building in from the west, followed by a cold front crossing the south early Tuesday. That means morning fog patches will be a feature across the agricultural area for several days, while isolated showers extend across parts of the agricultural districts and southern coasts. Showers are also expected about the far north early in the period, with rainfall totals generally modest through to Thursday.
