Adelaide weather forecast for Monday November 4th and the week ahead

Adelaide is in for a mixed bag of weather this week, with conditions ranging from clear skies to possible severe thunderstorms.

Adelaide is set to experience a fluctuating week in terms of weather, with conditions varying significantly over the next few days. Residents can expect everything from clear skies to potential thunderstorms according to the latest forecasts.

For the rest of Monday, the Adelaide area will see cloud cover gradually clearing. Current conditions include winds from the west to southwesterly at 15 to 20 km/h, which are expected to shift to southeasterly later in the evening. The maximum temperature will be around 23 degrees with a minimal 10% chance of rain.

Moving into Tuesday, November 5th (Melbourne Cup Day), temperatures are set to rise with a maximum of 31 degrees forecasted. The day will begin partly cloudy with a medium chance of showers, particularly likely late in the morning and into the afternoon. There is also a possibility of a thunderstorm developing. Winds will begin easterly at 15 to 20 km/h, shifting to northwest to northeasterly, and increasing to 20 to 30 km/h around midday. The chance of rain increases to 60%, and the region could see anywhere from 0 to 3 mm of rainfall.

As for Wednesday, November 6th, the temperature will slightly cool down with a forecasted high of 27 degrees and a minimum of 19 degrees. It will be partly cloudy with a reduced 30% chance of rain and potential light showers. The day will feature north to northwesterly winds at 20 to 30 km/h, turning west to southwesterly 15 to 25 km/h during the morning, and settling southeast to southwesterly at 15 to 20 km/h by evening.

A strong wind warning has been issued for the Far West Coast for Tuesday, alerting residents and visitors to expect more blustery conditions.

The broader weather situation across South Australia involves a trough in the northeast which is set to move northwards and weaken today. A ridge of high pressure across the south is expected to shift east on Tuesday, making way for a weakening low pressure system and associated trough from Western Australia to move across South Australia in the afternoon and continue into Wednesday.

Temperatures across the state will vary, with regions in the southeast experiencing below average temperatures, while the north and far west will see above average highs. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are also anticipated throughout South Australia, particularly significant in the North West Pastoral district where conditions may become severe.

As the week progresses, a couple of cold fronts will pass over the southeast, part of the eastern flank of an approaching high pressure ridge. This will likely bring a change in the weather pattern towards the later part of the week.
