Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday April 19th and the days ahead

South Australian residents can brace themselves for a change in weather over the weekend, with 29 degrees and possible thunderstorms predicted for today.

South Australian residents can brace themselves for a change in weather over the Easter long weekend and into next week with predicted forecasts showing cooler and wetter conditions approaching. The Bureau of Meteorology has released the latest information, helping guide the expected conditions.

For the remainder of today, Saturday 19 April 2025, Adelaide is expected to reach a maximum temperature of 29 degrees and predicted showers developing, with an 80% chance of rain. With possibilities of thunderstorms this evening, winds will shift from northerly to westerly, increasing in intensity as the day progresses.

Turning to Sunday, the temperature will drop to a cooler maximum of 20 degrees with consistent showers throughout the day, potentially accumulating between 2 to 10 mm of rain. Wind conditions will continue to be strong from the westerly direction making it chilly and fresh, so it’s advised to layer up.

By Monday, the rain eases slightly, with 0 to 2 mm expected and a 50% chance of rain. The day will likely see maximum temperatures hovering around 20 degrees. Winds will remain strong but will shift to a southerly direction by the afternoon.

Looking forward, conditions in Adelaide will begin to clear from Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and a mild 22 degrees. The weather continues to improve into midweek, with Wednesday and Thursday forecasted to be mostly sunny and temperatures peaking at 24 degrees and 25 degrees respectively. By Friday, there’s a possibility of showers returning, with a maximum of 22 degrees predicted.

For the broader region of South Australia, a cold front is currently impacting the state. This is expected to move eastward by Sunday, stabilising conditions across the region. Agricultural areas, particularly in the southern parts, will experience showers and possible isolated thunderstorms on Sunday, with temperatures remaining below average across the state.

Warnings are in place for several areas: an Extreme Fire Danger warning has been issued for the Mid North fire weather district due to warm, dry conditions and gusty winds expected today. Marine Wind Warnings are also active, with strong wind warnings for today and a gale warning for Sunday affecting multiple coastal districts.

A flood warning remains in effect for the Inland Rivers of South Australia. The Diamantina River and Cooper Creek are key areas of concern with elevated river levels and slow falls expected.
