Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday January 11th and the days ahead

Adelaide is set for a sunny and warm weekend with temperatures reaching up to 33°C, while parts of South Australia face severe heatwave conditions.

Adelaide looks set to experience continued warmth as the current weather forecast predicts sunny conditions with high temperatures extending into the early part of next week. According to the latest updates from the Bureau of Meteorology, sunny weather will dominate over the weekend and Monday with highs reaching up to 33°C.

Today, Saturday, Adelaide is expected to be mostly sunny with light winds shifting from west to southwesterly at speeds of 20 to 30 km/h around midday before changing direction to southeast to southwesterly late in the afternoon. Tonight, there is no chance of rain, and the conditions are set to remain dry.

The outlook for Sunday, 12 January, shows similar weather conditions with sunny skies throughout the day. Wind patterns will start off southeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h and will increase to 20 to 30 km/h, turning from south to southwesterly later in the morning and then reducing to 15 to 25 km/h, swinging back to south to southeasterly in the evening. The temperature will peak at 33°C following a minimum of 18°C early in the morning.

Moving into Monday, 13 January, Adelaide will continue to enjoy sunny weather with a daytime high of 32°C after a morning low of 18°C. Winds will initially be light and variable before picking up to southwesterly at 20 to 30 km/h during the day and then shifting south to southeasterly at 15 to 25 km/h in the afternoon.

While the metropolitan area basks in the sun, parts of South Australia are on alert due to severe heatwave conditions. The North West Pastoral District has been issued a Severe Heatwave Warning for the period from Friday, 10 January, to Monday, 13 January 2025, as temperatures are predicted to be well above the seasonal averages.

The broader South Australian region sees a mix of weather scenarios over the weekend. Scattered showers are likely across the west and isolated showers could develop in the far southeast. The far northwest may experience isolated thunderstorms. These conditions are due to two weather troughs developing on either side of the state, with gusty winds anticipated around thunderstorm areas in the northwest.

Unsurprisingly, the high temperatures are accompanied by fresh afternoon sea breezes, which might provide some relief from the heat, especially near coastal areas. However, the primary takeaway is that much of South Australia, particularly Adelaide, will continue to experience dry and sunny weather for the remainder of the weekend into early next week.
