Adelaide residents should prepare for a period of unstable and inclement weather over the coming days, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Meteorology. The forecast indicates a continuation of today’s cold and stormy conditions across a significant portion of South Australia.
Today, Adelaide faces a maximum temperature of 16°C with windy conditions and persistent showers throughout the day. There is a 100% chance of rainfall, which could range between 10 to 20 millimetres, accompanied by possible thunderstorms and small hail in the hills and southern suburbs. Winds are expected to reach speeds between 35 to 50 km/h, shifting from northwesterly to southwesterly. This evening will see a slight reduction in wind speeds.
A Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS is in place for people in Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Mid North, Kangaroo Island and parts of Lower Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East, Riverland and North East Pastoral districts.
Isolated damaging winds have temporarily eased this morning, becoming likely again later in the morning and afternoon.
The following days will see a continuation of this trend. Sunday will also be cold, with temperatures ranging from a minimum of 6°C to a maximum of 13°C, along with continued showers and possible small hail. Winds will moderate slightly, ranging from 20 to 30 km/h. Monday will bring slightly warmer conditions with a maximum of 16°C and a lower chance of showers.
Accompanying these forecasts, there are several weather warnings in place. A warning for sheep graziers is currently active in multiple regions including the Mount Lofty Ranges, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Flinders, Mid North, Upper South East, and Lower South East. Cold weather, rain, and strong westerly winds may risk the loss of lambs and sheep within these districts.
Marine activities will also be significantly impacted. Gale warnings have been issued for Adelaide Metropolitan Waters, Lower West Coast, Central Coast, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, Gulf St Vincent, Investigator Strait, Upper South East Coast and Lower South East Coast for today. These regions will experience strong winds that may pose hazards to marine navigation and activities.
Meanwhile, inland flood warnings anticipate continued river level elevations along the Warburton and Cooper Creek. Residents and travelers in these areas, particularly near river crossings and access roads, should stay informed and exercise caution.
