Adelaide weather forecast for Saturday May 16 and the days ahead

Happy Saturday! Here’s the weather for May 16 and what to expect over the weekend

Adelaide is heading into a cool, changeable stretch of weather, with showers, a possible thunderstorm today, and a run of mostly grey days before conditions begin to settle later in the week. For anyone with outdoor plans this weekend’s front is the main feature to watch, bringing the chance of wet roads, gusty shifts and a brief storm risk before calmer weather returns.

For the rest of Saturday, Adelaide is looking at a partly cloudy day with a high chance of showers, although they’re expected to become less likely from late morning. There is still the chance of a thunderstorm during the afternoon and evening, with the city forecast to reach 21 degrees. Northerly winds will tend northwesterly through the middle of the day before easing off in the afternoon, which should make for a cooler and less blustery end to the day than many spots across the state will see.

Sunday keeps the unsettled feel going, though in a softer way. Adelaide can expect a partly cloudy day, a medium chance of showers and the possibility of morning fog, especially around the suburbs and hills. Light winds will keep things fairly still, with temperatures ranging from 13 to 20 degrees.

Monday starts in a similar pattern, with more morning fog possible and another partly cloudy day ahead. Showers are expected to become more likely later in the day and into the evening as another front approaches, while winds shift around and become northwesterly by evening. The top will again hover around the cool side at 19 degrees.

Tuesday looks to be the wettest day of the Adelaide forecast, with a very high chance of showers, most likely in the morning, before conditions gradually ease. Winds will turn from northwesterly to southwesterly during the morning, reinforcing the cool feel and keeping the daytime maximum to around 19 degrees. If you’re commuting early, this is the day most likely to bring a damp and messy start.

By Wednesday, showers should hang around but ease back to a medium chance, with partly cloudy skies and a top of 19 degrees. The second half of the week then begins to brighten slightly. Thursday is forecast to be partly cloudy with only a slight chance of a shower and light winds, before Friday follows with similar conditions and a top of 20 degrees. After a fairly grey start to the week, Adelaide should finish on a calmer, more comfortable note.
