Not so great news for those attending major events and festivals today and over the weekend with rain forecast over both days. Adelaide can expect a mostly wet day with a maximum temperature of 24 degrees.
Adelaide and much of South Australia are in for a few unsettled days as a low-pressure system and a series of troughs move across the state, bringing widespread showers, thunderstorms and strong winds.
Today, showers and storms are expected across most districts except the far north-east. Some of these could turn severe, particularly in the west, with the potential for damaging wind gusts, heavy rain and even hail. Temperatures will sit near to above average, with fresh north to north-westerly winds shifting to a cooler west to south-westerly change later in the day. This front is expected to reach central areas by evening.
On Sunday, 26 October, conditions will stay unsettled with showers continuing across the agricultural areas and southern pastoral districts. A band of cloud will bring patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms over the far north. Temperatures will drop below average, and northern parts of the state will feel the chill most. Winds will swing south-east to south-westerly, picking up along the coast.
By Monday, 27 October, light showers will linger across southern regions, most likely along exposed coasts and ranges. Temperatures will stay on the cool side, particularly further north, and south-easterly to south-westerly winds will persist, freshening about the southern coasts at times.
Rainfall totals to the end of Tuesday are expected to range from less than 5mm in the far north-east to 5–15mm across most areas. Heavier falls of 15–30mm are possible across the North West Pastoral and southern agricultural regions, with isolated totals of 30–40mm where thunderstorms develop. The most intense storms could deliver up to 60mm of rain in parts of Eyre Peninsula, the West Coast and the southern North West Pastoral.
