The Bureau of Meteorology says Adelaide can look forward to soaking up the sun this week, with only a hint of cloud cover towards the weekend.
Starting with the remainder of Sunday, Adelaide will experience sunny skies with a maximum temperature of 34 degrees. The winds will alternate from northwest to northeasterly, shifting to a southwesterly direction during the day before becoming light in the evening. As we progress through the week, conditions appear mostly favourable, with warm temperatures maintaining a steady pattern.
On Monday, the minimum temperature will be 19 degrees, and the high will be of 32 degrees with mostly sunny skies. Adelaide will see light breezes that will become southwesterly during the early afternoon and transition to east to southeasterly later.
Tuesday will mirror Monday in terms of temperature, with a continued maximum of 32 degrees and a minimum temperature ever so slightly higher at 20 degrees. Winds will begin from the east to northeasterly before changing to west to northwesterly during the day, concluding with east to southeasterly winds by the afternoon.
By Wednesday, the weather remains clear and sunny with the temperature keeping consistent with previous days. The latter part of the week introduces some variety, with Thursday and Friday seeing some cloud cover. The temperatures will slightly dip, with Thursday seeing a peak of 27 degrees and Friday further falling to 26 degrees. Come Saturday, Adelaide can anticipate a further decrease in temperature to a maximum of 23 degrees accompanied by a shower or two.
While the weather in Adelaide leans towards the warmer and drier side, attention must also be paid to the weather warnings throughout South Australia. Currently, a fire weather warning has been declared for the Lower South East Fire Weather District due to expected extreme fire danger conditions. This includes freshening north to northwesterly winds that will tend west to northwesterly in the afternoon, all while paired with dry conditions and significantly above-average temperatures.
A flood warning is also in effect due to significant flooding occurring at Innamincka, with floodwaters arriving from the Diamantina River. Elevated river levels are expected to persist for a substantial period, impacting road access and potentially cutting off river crossings in the region.
