Adelaide weather forecast for Sunday August 24th and the days ahead

Explore what’s in store for Adelaide’s weather as the city braces for a week of changes!

Happy Sunday! As we move into another week, plan to face an unsettled weather pattern that sees daily showers interspersed with unpredictable winds. This information, released by the Bureau of Meteorology, outlines what locals can expect in the days ahead.

For the remainder of today, Adelaide can anticipate clouds to gather with temperatures peaking at a mild 21 degrees. The light cloud cover marks just the beginning of a week characterised by wet weather and dipping temperatures.

On Monday, 25 August, residents should prepare for occasional showers with temperatures ranging from a low of 15 degrees to a high of 23 degrees. The occurrence of showers increases significantly by Tuesday, ushering in a week of persistent rain. Temperatures will cool further, with Tuesday’s temperatures expected to hover between 13 degrees and a brisk 17 degrees. This trend continues, with the mercury dropping to a high of just 15 degrees by Wednesday and even further by Thursday and Friday, maintaining highs around 14 degrees. The week concludes on Saturday with yet another day of potential showers and similar temperature patterns.

This drawn out splash of moisture over Adelaide correlates with a broader climatic pattern affecting South Australia. A complex low-pressure system developing south of the Bight is spurring this shift, extending vigorous cold fronts across the region. These conditions are not only confined to rain but also bring strong winds, particularly affecting coastal areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued strong wind warnings for Sunday and Monday across multiple coastal areas including the Far West Coast, Upper West Coast, and Lower West Coast for Sunday. Extending into Monday, these warnings also cover Central Coast, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, and Lower South East Coast.

Looking towards the remaining days of next week, South Australia will continue to face showers with possible thunderstorms, especially around the southern coastal regions. The weather will gradually clear up in some parts of the state, though temperatures are expected to remain below average due to prevailing fresh to strong southwesterly winds.
