Adelaide weather forecast for Sunday February 16th and the week ahead

Adelaide can expect mostly sunny weather this week with mild temperatures, while isolated showers loom in the west.

Residents of Adelaide can expect clearing skies and mild weather conditions to prevail for the remainder of Sunday. The city will see maximum temperatures reaching up to 25 degrees with minimal 5% chance of rain.

Easterly winds of 15 to 20 km/h will swing southeasterly and pick up slightly to 15 to 25 km/h throughout the morning.

Looking ahead to Monday, 17 February, Adelaide is set to enjoy mostly sunny skies. Early morning winds from the east to southeasterly direction will shift from east to northeast, remaining steady at 15 to 20 km/h, before changing to a southeast to southwesterly flow later in the day at 15 to 25 km/h. The temperature is expected to rise slightly, with a low of 13 and a peak at 29 degrees. BOM is predicting 0 percent chance of rain.

On Tuesday, 18 February, the pattern of mostly sunny weather continues, coupling with temperatures cooling slightly to a maximum of 28 degrees after a minimum of 15. The probability of rain remains low at 5 percent. Winds will strengthen and become predominantly southeasterly, ranging from 20 to 30 km/h.

Across South Australia, no weather warnings are currently in place. The broader state forecast indicates variable conditions. While coastal areas may see clouds clearing in the afternoon, further inland and particularly near the western border, isolated showers and thunderstorms might develop on Monday. Temperatures will generally be below average in central and eastern parts but are expected to climb above average in the west.

By Tuesday, the potential for development of isolated showers and thunderstorms will concentrate in the far west and near southern coasts, particularly around Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East district.

The overall weather situation across South Australia is heavily influenced by a high-pressure system situated south of the Bight, which extends a broad ridge across the state. This system will gradually move eastwards at the start of the week as a low pressure trough from Western Australia makes slow eastward progress towards South Australia. By mid-week, this trough is expected to weaken and be followed by another high moving into the area. The forecast anticipates a cold front and trough approaching from the west by next weekend, likely signaling a shift in current weather patterns.
