Adelaide is heading into a fairly mild but changeable week, with a few showers, cool mornings and a wetter spell likely around Tuesday before calmer conditions return later in the week.
For today, Sunday, Adelaide can expect partly cloudy skies and the chance of a passing shower this afternoon, with temperatures reaching 21 degrees in the city and light winds keeping things fairly settled. Monday stays in a similar vein, with a partly cloudy day ahead, a chance of morning fog and another medium chance of showers, most likely later at night. The temperature will ease back slightly, with a top of 19 degrees after a low of 11.
The most unsettled day of the week looks set to be Tuesday, when showers become much more likely across Adelaide, especially through the morning. Winds will pick up and shift during the day, starting west to northwesterly before turning south to southwesterly, which will help keep the temperature to around 19 degrees. Showers are expected to ease later on, but it will be the day to keep an umbrella handy.
By Wednesday, conditions begin to settle again, although there is still a medium chance of a shower, most likely in the morning. Fog is also possible around the hills early in the day, and winds will briefly freshen from the southwest before becoming light again. The city is forecast to reach 20 degrees.
The back half of the week looks far more comfortable for Adelaide. Thursday brings partly cloudy skies with only a slight chance of a shower and a cool start of 9 degrees before a top of 20. Friday is shaping up as the pick of the week, with mostly sunny conditions, light winds and another top of 20 degrees. By Saturday, cloud starts to increase again, with a slight chance of a shower returning, but temperatures will remain steady with a low of 11 and a maximum of 20.
Across regional South Australia, the broader pattern remains a little more active. Morning fog is expected in several agricultural districts through the first half of the week, while isolated showers will continue across parts of the agricultural areas and the far north. There is also the chance of thunderstorms in the east and north today, which could bring heavier bursts of rain in some locations. Rainfall totals through to Wednesday are generally expected to be modest in the west, but totals increase east of around Coober Pedy and across central districts and the northeast, where thunderstorms could push local falls into the 30 to 60 mm range. Southern coastal areas can also expect fresher south to southwesterly winds from Tuesday and Wednesday as the cold front moves through and a high settles into the Bight.
