The Bureau of Meteorology has issued an updated severe weather warning for damaging, and potentially locally destructive winds across South Australia, affecting Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of West Coast, North East Pastoral and North West Pastoral districts. Today, Adelaide will see a mostly sunny day with a maximum temperature of 21 degrees. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, a cold front will arrive this evening.
The remainder of Sunday in Adelaide is expected to be mostly sunny, with a slight chance of showers in the southern suburbs later tonight. Damaging winds are also possible around the hills and southern areas as the cold front begins to take effect. Winds will increase throughout the day, reaching speeds between 30 to 45 km/h by the evening.
Looking ahead to Monday, Adelaide will see dramatic shift with predicted showers and windy conditions. Minimum temperatures will drop to 11 degrees with a maximum of only 17 degrees. It is likely to rain throughout the day, with possible thunderstorms and damaging winds continuing as the cold front moves across the region.
On Tuesday, the weather will start to settle as the showers begin to ease, although it will remain partly cloudy. The temperature will slightly increase, with a low of 9 degrees and a high of 19 degrees. Winds are expected to decrease, becoming more moderate as the day progresses.
The rest of the week will see consistent conditions, with partly cloudy skies from Wednesday to Saturday and temperatures ranging from 7 degrees to 19 degrees. The high-pressure system moving towards the Bight is expected to stabilise the weather somewhat from midweek.
A warning to sheep graziers has been declared due to expected cold temperatures, showers, and strong winds on Monday. This warning affects the Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Mid North, Upper South East, and Lower South East districts.
A marine wind warning is in place due to gale warnings spanning from the Far West Coast to the Lower South East Coast. On land, a flood warning continues along the Warburton River and Cooper Creek, impacting regions flowing into Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre.
