Adelaide is set to experience a range of weather conditions from mostly sunny skies to possible thunderstorms over the next few days, according to the latest updates from the Bureau of Meteorology.
Today, the city will enjoy mostly sunny weather with a maximum temperature of 27 degrees. Winds are expected to blow from the east to southeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h, shifting southeast to southwesterly in the early afternoon, and then returning to a southeasterly direction at speeds of 15 to 25 km/h by the evening. The chance of rain remains low, at 10%.
The weather is set to change on Monday November 11th, when the possibility of showers increases significantly. The forecast suggests a 60% chance of rain with potential rainfall ranging from 0 to 5 mm. Cloud cover will increase, making for a cloudy day with a chance of a thunderstorm. Morning winds will be from the east to southeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h, becoming east to northeasterly and strengthening to 15 to 25 km/h.
Conditions will improve slightly on Tuesday November 12th with partly cloudy skies and a reduced chance of rain at 20%. While there is a slight possibility of a shower, significant rainfall is not expected. Wind patterns will see a change, starting light and becoming west to southwesterly at 20 to 30 km/h in the morning, then shifting south to southwesterly during the evening.
Strong wind warnings are in place for the Far West Coast for Sunday November 10th.
Across the broader South Australian region, weather conditions will vary significantly. A ridge of high pressure currently lies over the southern parts of the state, expected to be influenced by a trough of low pressure moving from the west over the weekend and across the north by early next week. By Tuesday, another high is predicted to develop west of the Bight, while a front moving in from the west to southwesterly direction will affect the southeast by Wednesday.
For the remainder of Sunday, South Australia will see showers and thunderstorms in the north and west, extending eastwards across pastoral areas and southwards into the northern agricultural regions. Some of these thunderstorms may be severe with the potential for locally heavy falls, particularly around the northwest. Conditions will be mostly dry in the south with temperatures near average, accompanied by northeast to southeasterly winds, which will become fresh along the coast.
Moving into Monday, more showers and thunderstorms are forecast across pastoral and northern agricultural areas, spreading south during the afternoon. Again, there is a possibility of severe thunderstorms in the northwest pastoral district, extending into the northern agricultural area. Temperatures will remain around average, with variable winds in the east and a shift from southeast to northeasterly ahead of a southwest to southeasterly change across the west and south, freshening along the coast.
By Tuesday, isolated showers and possible thunderstorms are expected mainly in the northern parts of the state, particularly during the morning. Temperatures will stay near the seasonal average, with southwest to southeasterly winds prevailing and occasionally freshening near the coast.
