Adelaide and its surrounding areas are expecting a chilly and unsettled day today, according to the latest weather forecast by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM). Temperatures across the metropolitan region are not expected to climb much higher than the mid-teens.
In Adelaide, a possible shower is anticipated with a high of 16 degrees forecast. The skies will remain partly cloudy throughout the day. There is a medium chance of rain, particularly around the hills and southern suburbs where showers are more likely. Winds are expected to blow from the northwest at speeds between 20 to 30 km/h.
The same weather pattern extends to neighbouring suburbs. Both Elizabeth and Glenelg are experiencing similar conditions with temperatures set to peak at 16 and 15 degrees Celsius respectively, and partial cloud cover throughout the day. Noarlunga is slightly cooler at 15 degrees and residents there can expect a couple of showers during the day.
The Mount Lofty Ranges are seeing the day’s chilliest temperatures with Parawa and Stirling both expecting highs of only 12 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a few showers.
The warmest part of South Australia today is the North East Pastoral area, where Moomba is seeing a peak temperature of 22 degrees under partly cloudy skies.
Several areas including Oodnadatta, Marla, Oak Valley, Coober Pedy, Ceduna, Woomera, and Renmark are all expecting highs of 18 degrees Celsius. While Marla, Renmark, Woomera, and Coober Pedy are likely to experience morning showers clearing later in the day. Oak Valley and Ceduna will enjoy mostly sunny conditions.
Murray Bridge will also see an 18-degree high, with partial cloud cover expected throughout the day.
Several wind warnings have been issued for the South Australian coasts. Gale warnings are in place for the Lower South East Coast. Strong wind warnings have also been announced for the Lower West Coast, Central Coast, South Central Coast, Investigator Strait, and Upper South East Coast. These conditions are set to persist into Friday, with continuing gale warnings for the Lower South East Coast and strong wind warnings extending across the aforementioned coastal areas.
