On Thursday, Adelaide can expect a partly cloudy day with a maximum temperature of 26 degrees. Light winds will evolve from west to southwesterly, reaching speeds of 15 to 20 km/h in the early afternoon before easing in the evening.
As the week progresses, mostly sunny conditions are forecast for Friday, with a slight rise in temperatures, ranging from a minimum of 15 degrees to a maximum of 28 degrees.
The weekend, however, will see a change, with showers developing on Saturday and temperatures ranging between 20 and 27 degrees. There’s a very high chance of showers throughout the day and potential thunderstorms, with winds shifting from northerly to southwesterly.
Sunday will bring cooler weather with temperatures dropping to a high of 20 degrees and a low of 13 degrees. Showers are expected to continue, but they will be lighter compared to Saturday.
Across South Australia, the state will experience a moving trough of low pressure, which will weaken over eastern districts today. A stronger trough is predicted to move into the west on Friday, followed by a cold front from the Southern Ocean affecting the southeastern districts on Saturday.
A significant weather warning is in effect as major flooding continues at Innamincka, with Cooper Creek still above 1974 levels. Diamantina River floodwaters are arriving at the SA border, causing flooding at Birdsville. Roads and river crossings may be cut. Further rises are likely along the Warburton River in coming weeks.
