South Australia is in for a cool change as a low-pressure system sweeps across the state, bringing showers, gusty winds, and a drop in temperatures. A cold front moving through today will give way to a high-pressure system settling south of the Bight by the weekend, ensuring stable but cooler conditions.
Adelaide can expect a top of 27 degrees today, with a medium chance of showers in the morning before clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon. Winds will pick up, shifting from westerly 25 to 40 km/h in the morning to southwesterly 20 to 30 km/h in the evening. Rainfall, if any, will be 0 to 1mm.
Across the state, isolated showers are possible for coastal areas, central districts, Eyre Peninsula, and the eastern North West Pastoral. Thunderstorms could develop over the far northwest, southern Yorke Peninsula, and Kangaroo Island. While most of South Australia will experience below-average temperatures, the far northeast will remain warmer than usual. Expect fresh, gusty southwesterly winds behind the change, with strong westerlies along the central and eastern coasts in the afternoon.
A cooler day with a minimum of 17 degrees and a maximum of 25 degrees is on the way for tomorrow, with a 50% chance of showers, mainly in the morning and early afternoon. Winds will be southwesterly 20 to 30 km/h, turning southerly in the evening.
A cloudy and cool low of 15 degrees and high of 23 degrees is expected for Saturday, with a 20% chance of light showers. Winds will strengthen from the south at 25 to 35 km/h.
An Extreme Fire Danger is in place for the North East Pastoral and Lower South East, with emergency services urging residents to stay alert and have a bushfire survival plan in place.
A Strong Wind Warning is in effect for Adelaide Metropolitan Waters, Far West Coast, Lower West Coast, Central Coast, South Central Coast, Spencer Gulf, Gulf St Vincent, Investigator Strait, Upper South East Coast, and Lower South East Coast.
