Adelaide is in for a run of crisp, sunny winter weather, with cold mornings, light winds and mostly dry days settling in across the city over the next week.
For the rest of today, Adelaide can expect the chance of morning fog and frost before a sunny afternoon develops. Light winds will keep things fairly calm, with the city heading for a top of 16 degrees. Across the metro area, Glenelg is forecast to reach 15 degrees, Elizabeth 16, Mount Barker 16 and Noarlunga 14. It’s the sort of winter day that starts sharply cold and ends quite pleasant in the sunshine.
Friday follows a similar pattern, with another bright and dry day on the way. The city is forecast to dip to 5 degrees overnight before reaching 17 degrees, while the chance of morning frost lingers about the hills.
Conditions stay settled through Saturday, with sunshine continuing and temperatures edging up slightly to 18 degrees after a morning low of 6.
Sunday keeps the fine spell going with mostly sunny skies and a milder start, the temperature ranging from 9 to 18 degrees.
That same theme carries into Monday, with another mostly sunny day and a top of 17 degrees. By then, Adelaide will have enjoyed several days of classic mid-winter calm, with light winds and very little chance of rain.
A small shift arrives from Tuesday, when cloud begins to increase and there’s a slight chance of a shower. Temperatures are still expected to stay fairly comfortable, with a low of 9 and a top of 18 degrees.
Wednesday looks much the same, staying partly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower and possible rainfall of up to 1mm. The forecast top is 17 degrees.
Across regional South Australia, the big story is the persistence of dry, settled conditions. The high pressure system is keeping rain out of the forecast through to at least Sunday, with no significant rainfall expected statewide. Fog and frost are likely to be the main hazards across central and eastern agricultural areas and south of the pastoral districts through Thursday and Friday mornings, before patchy morning fog remains possible on and east of the ranges over the weekend. Maximum temperatures are expected to sit near average in many districts, while western parts of the state could become a little warmer than average by Saturday and Sunday.
There is a frost warning for the Mid North, Riverland and Murraylands forecast districts.
