Today, Adelaide can look forward to a sunny Thursday with a high of 19 degrees. Although over the next few days the state will see contrasting weather, as a ridge of high pressure that has been hovering along the coastline will begin moving eastwards on Friday. This shift will bring a series of cold fronts from the west over the weekend.
As for Friday, we’ll see a continuation of today’s clear skies, with an expected low of 5 degrees and a high of 18 degrees. Saturday will see a shower or two and a slight temperature increase, with a maximum of 21 degrees. The weather will take a more unsettled turn on Sunday, with increasing showers and windy conditions, maintaining Sunday’s high at 21 degrees.
Moving into next week, the chilly influence of the cold fronts will continue. Monday will see showers and windy conditions, and temperatures dropping to a high of only 16 degrees. The likelihood of showers continues into Tuesday, although with lesser intensity, and a slightly warmer 17 degrees. By Wednesday, conditions will improve slightly with partly cloudy skies and a high of 18 degrees.
Current weather warnings for South Australia include a frost warning for the Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, and Lower South East forecast districts. This alert was triggered due to anticipated severe frosts which could see temperatures plummet to -3 degrees early Thursday morning.
A flood warning is issued for the Inland Rivers of South Australia, with specific emphasis on the Warburton River at Poothapoota Waterhole and Cooper Creek at various locations.
