This week, Adelaide and the broader South Australian region are set to experience a varied pattern of weather conditions, according to the Bureau of Meteorology. Today, Adelaide residents can expect a mostly sunny day with temperatures peaking at 30 degrees. Light southeasterly winds will increase throughout the day.
The weather will shift slightly tomorrow, with a minimum temperature of 16 degrees and a maximum of 30 degrees under partly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of showers, particularly around the hills and southern suburbs, during the late morning and afternoon. By Thursday, the temperature is set to rise a little, with a low of 17 degrees and a high of 32 degrees. The day will be mostly sunny, although the northern suburbs might see a thunderstorm in the afternoon.
As the week progresses, the variability continues. Friday will see partly cloudy conditions with a minimum of 21 degrees and a maximum of 35 degrees. The following days will bring clearer skies, with Saturday expected to be sunny and temperatures ranging between 17 degrees and 27 degrees. A cooling trend will take effect by Sunday, with cloudy weather and cooler temperatures between 13 degrees and 23 degrees. Monday will remain partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 13 degrees to 25 degrees.
South Australia is also currently under a marine wind warning for both the Far West Coast and the Upper West Coast areas. This strong wind warning covers the period until midnight on Wednesday, December 10th. Parts of South Australia are also facing a severe heatwave. The North West Pastoral District has been issued a severe heatwave warning effective from Monday, December 8th to Thursday, December 11th. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions against the heat.
Looking at the broader state over the next few days, there will be isolated light showers and possible thunderstorms, with temperatures generally above average, except in the southeast. The weather is largely influenced by a broad ridge over coastal waters and a strengthening high-pressure system south of the Bight.
