The shift comes on Wednesday, when showers are set to move through Adelaide during the morning and afternoon. The Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting a very high chance of rain, with between 1 and 6mm possible and a cool top of 15 degrees after an overnight low of 9. Winds will swing around through the day, starting northwest to northeasterly before turning southwesterly by midday, which will make conditions feel noticeably brisker.
That cooler pattern sticks around on Thursday, with a high chance of showers again, particularly through the morning and afternoon. Adelaide is only expected to reach 14 degrees after a chilly 7-degree start, with light winds becoming southwesterly during the day. Rainfall totals look light, but enough to keep the umbrellas within reach.
Friday remains cloudy with a medium chance of a passing shower and a top of 15 degrees. Winds will be light for much of the day, with a west to southwesterly change expected. While rainfall amounts are minor, it continues the theme of unsettled winter weather rather than a clean, sunny break.

Saturday looks cloudy with a medium chance of showers and a top of 15 degrees, while Sunday brings partly cloudy skies and another medium chance of showers, again reaching 15 degrees. Early next week, Monday follows a similar script, with patchy cloud, a possible late shower or two, and a slightly milder top of 16 degrees. For Adelaide residents, it is a week for layers, a rain jacket, and keeping an eye on those shifting winds if you are commuting, heading to the markets, or spending time near the coast.
Across South Australia, today is expected to stay mostly dry before showers begin developing about the coasts later in the evening. Areas of morning fog are likely on and east of the ranges, which could affect visibility early. By Wednesday, showers will extend through the agricultural districts before easing back to coastal areas in the evening. The southeast coast is also in line for small hail later Wednesday and again on Thursday morning, while the rest of the state stays largely dry.
Maximum temperatures will be above average in the pastoral districts midweek, but cooler than average conditions are expected to settle across the agricultural areas from Wednesday onward. By Friday, isolated light showers will linger about the southeast and coastal districts, while inland areas remain dry. Coastal waters off Adelaide will also become more active midweek, with southwesterly winds and showers from Wednesday, although seas are expected to remain around 1 metre or below.
