This week’s forecast highlights a mix of showers and sunny days across Adelaide, with special marine and flood warnings in place for affected areas.

As winter progresses, the Bureau of Meteorology has issued a detailed weather outlook for South Australia, highlighting a mix of conditions that will impact various regions across the state.

Starting with Adelaide, residents can expect a cool and occasionally wet week. Today, maximum temperatures will hover around 17 degrees with a chance of showers, primarily in the morning. The probability of rainfall is pegged at 70%, with accumulations between 0 to 2 mm. By Wednesday, the sky will clear to partly cloudy with a slight drop in maximum temperature to 16 degrees. Shower chances reduce to 30%, offering a brief respite.

The weather pattern becomes slightly unpredictable again by Thursday, with a 40% chance of showers and a consistent high of 16 degrees anticipated. As the week proceeds, Friday promises more sunshine with only minor interruptions by showers, particularly around the coast, while Saturday to Monday signals a return to scattered showers throughout Adelaide.

On a broader scale, South Australia is being shaped by a complex weather system, including a low pressure system and associated cold front moving across midweek, followed by a high pressure system stabilising conditions towards the weekend. Regions to the south and east can expect patchy morning frost and light showers, with dry conditions holding in the north. Thunderstorms are likely about western coasts and Kangaroo Island on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

In terms of warnings, there are specific alerts for marine and inland areas. A strong wind warning has been declared for the far west coast, effective through midnight Wednesday. Mariners should stay vigilant or check the latest updates. Additionally, significant flood warnings continue for the Inland Rivers, particularly affecting the Warburton and Cooper Creeks. Elevated river levels will persist, with floodwaters impacting travel and potentially cutting off access to river crossings.
