The Bureau of Meteorology has issued several weather warnings for South Australia, impacting travel, farming, and daily activities across multiple regions. Adelaide is under a Road Weather Alert due to reduced visibility from morning fog, which could complicate the morning commute. Residents are advised to drive cautiously and use headlights. A Frost Warning is in effect for the Mid North and Riverland forecast districts, with temperatures potentially dropping to -1 degrees.
There’s also a Flood Warning for inland rivers, especially affecting the Warburton River and Cooper Creek areas. Elevated river and creek levels are causing slow recession of floodwaters, impacting road and track accessibility, particularly at river crossings.
Today, Adelaide will experience a chilly maximum of 14 degrees with morning fog. Tomorrow the weather is expected to clear slightly with a forecasted high of 17 degrees and only a 10 per cent chance of rain. Conditions remain partly cloudy. Friday sees a slight temperature increase to 18 degrees, again with partly cloudy skies and a gentle breeze shifting from the northeast.
Across South Australia, varied conditions are due to the movement of high and low-pressure systems across the region. The high-pressure system south of Kangaroo Island is expected to shift northeast towards southern Queensland by Thursday and then into the Tasman Sea by the weekend. Another low-pressure system is making its way across the Bight and will introduce a cold front across South Australia by the weekend. This dynamic will result in above-average temperatures in the west but cooler conditions elsewhere. Showers are forecast to spread across the agricultural districts, potentially accompanied by thunderstorms along the west coast due to the incoming front.
