As the weather gets warmer and the nights get longer, it’s time to take advantage and explore our beautiful city.

Adelaide Zoo is bringing their night sessions back to the beloved location, granting guests the chance to roam the park as the animals get ready for a peaceful night sleep across five twilight openings.

Summertime means lots of things – and balmy nights is one of them. Experiencing the magic of the Zoo after hours is the best way to beat the summer heat and discover the wonders of the Zoo.

Perfect for breaking the ice on a first date or simply celebrating the silly season with your loved ones, the Sundown session offers Adelaidians a chance to experience the Zoo like they never have before.

There’s plenty of experiences and opportunities to immerse yourself in the twilight magic of the Zoo this summer. Meander around the park and say goodnight to crowd favourites and pandas Wang Wang and Fu Ni as they retire to their nighttime quarters or say sweet dreams to the trio of giraffes.

As the sun turns to vibrant shades of pink and orange, watch some of Adelaide Zoo’s exotic birds soar through the sky at the Flying Colours Free Flight exhibition. Head on over the Penguin Beach and catch the Little Penguin colony chowing down on fillets of fish before they hit the hay (or water!). If big birds are more your style, the Australian Pelicans will also be snapping up fish at the evening session.

Rest your legs and jump on an EcoCaddy for the night, whizzing around the jungle grounds on wheels. Catching a ride on the free hop-on-hop-off caddy for two is a unique way to see the sights of Adelaide Zoo.

After all the excitement from seeing the lions, meerkats and hippo, tuck into a classic sausage sizzle underneath the Rotunda. The Zoo is a licensed venue as well, so kick back and enjoy a cold beer or glass of wine from the Fig Tree Café or Wisteria Café.

Although it’s always exciting to see your favourite animals at the Zoo, it is nighttime for them as well, and as the sun goes down most head to bed as we do. Some of the animals may not be as visible and perhaps a little sleepy – but after a busy year, who can blame them!

Most animals will be out to say hello to the Adelaide Zoo twilight guests, but the Nocturnal House and Reptile House will be closed during the Zoo Nights.

After taking home double gold at the 2021 SA Tourism Awards, you’re sure to be in for a treat at the twilight Zoo Nights.
