Nothing in Rundle Mall is quite as iconic as our beloved bronze pigs Horratio, Oliver, Truffles and Augusta.
The must-see statues were unveiled 21 years ago and Rundle Mall is celebrating by throwing a party.
The pigs will be celebrating reaching this special milestone with other much-loved South Australian icons.
Expect to see Balfours, Robern Menz, Charlesworth Nuts, Melba’s Chocolates, Kytons Bakery, Haigh’s Chocolates and Jonny’s Popcorn.
These local SA businesses will be giving away free treats between 12pm and 3pm on Friday 3 July.
Coming to celebrate will be Balfour’s Green Frog, Mr FruChoc, Kytons Bakery’s, Larry the Lamington and Charlesworth Nuts’ Charley the Peanut.
So come along to wish them a happy birthday and share your memorable moments to win!
Take a photo with the pigs to enter a competition with an amazing prize of delicious SA treats valued at $350.
You can find more details on how to enter on Rundle Mall’s website here.
Did you know?
South African-born artist Marguerite Derricourt created the bronze sculptures in a national competition instigated by the City of Adelaide.
The competition was created in 1999 to find a piece of public art to mark the final stages of a Rundle Mall upgrade.
The winning sculptures titled ‘A Day Out’ and have spent the last 21 years digging through the bin for yummy scraps.
On Friday 3 July, between 12pm to 3pm, head to Rundle Mall to celebrate our favourite pigs’ 21st birthday.
