Adelaide’s best Christmas lights for 2023 revealed by Mix102.3

Mix102.3 has announced the winners of their much-anticipated annual Christmas Lights competition.

It’s that time of year again when Adelaideans eagerly anticipate the annual Christmas Lights competition results, and Mix102.3 has just unveiled this year’s winners.

What better way to experience Christmas than by exploring the dazzling Christmas lights displays across the city with your loved ones? Teaming up with Fairmont Homes and Seven News Adelaide, Mix102.3 has once again succeeded in bringing the joy of Christmas to life, discovering some of the most enchanting displays across Adelaide.

With a remarkable 94 entries spanning the greater Adelaide area, the anticipation was high and the winners were announced on The Ali Clarke Breakfast Show. The competition featured four winners, each representing a different corner of the city, and they all received a share of over $10,000 in prizes.

Here are the 2024 Christmas Lights Competition Winners:


  • Winner: Herman Erich – Bridgewater
  • Runner Up: Wayne Vardon – Bridgewater


  • Winner: Naomi Clarke – Beverley
  • Runner Up: Andrew Walters – Warradale


  • Winner: Janelle Neave – Surrey Downs
  • Runner Up: Craig Bensch – Andrews Farm


  • Winner: Steve Papaefstratiou – Park Holme
  • Runner Up: Chris Braven – Morphett Vale

These outstanding displays are a testament to the creativity and dedication of the people of Adelaide.

This year, there’s fun facts about some of the entrants, including Steve Papaefstratiou from Park Holme, who’s one of the youngest entrants ansd has been collecting Christmas lights since he was 10 years old. There’s also Chris Braven from Morphett Vale who recycles discarded election placards into unique Christmas decorations and Shane Lockyer from Seaford who used downpipes to create train signals for his Polar Express train set up and even played Santa on his roof.

Alice Sharples and her husband from Oaklands Park custom-designed and hand-cut each wooden item in their display, creating a truly unique Christmas lights design.

Adelaide residents and visitors are encouraged to visit these winning displays and enjoy the festive magic.

Additionally, the People’s Choice category is open for public vote until December 17, where one lucky winner will receive $1,000 cash, and voters have a chance to win $500 for participating.
