We all love a good platter – there’s no doubt about it. Over the years platters though, have evolved from your basic carrot, celery sticks and hummus to incredible works of art.
With amazing South Australian produce now more readily available and the rise of food snaps on Instagram, party and boardroom meeting platters need not be boring!
To help you create a spread that’s fit for your next picnic, baby shower, wedding, date night, or launch event, we’ve put together some of our four favourite local platter artists whose creations look almost too good to eat.
Amazing Grazers was founded in November 2016 from an intense love of cheese and charcuterie mixed with an equally intense need to feed people en masse. Having a European heritage will do that so we’re told! Their philosophy is a simple one, borrowed from all their favourite international cultures – finding the best quality food you can, geting a lot of it, making it look gorgeous and sharing it with everyone. A cheese board has pretty much been a staple at most get togethers for years. But the humble cheese platter is not what it used to be! Their grazing boards, tables, hampers and picnics are all made to order to meet their client’s individual needs.
They source the freshest local produce and divine imported elements to create unique and lavish grazers which usually take pride of place as the centrepiece of the event they’re crafted for. And no two creations are the same! Their personal challenge every time is to combine new flavours and textures, shapes and colour in a masterpiece of visual and flavoursome delight.
“Sometimes I’ll look at the board I’m building and see an empty spot and think to myself – what am I going to put in there?? Then it’ll come to me. Aged cheddar popcorn! I love the randomness of some of the elements. Using ingredients that people wouldn’t think to use has always been met with such a positive response. I’m loving this ride!!”
If you’re looking for amazing sharing platters in the city, whether it’s to eat there, for catering, or to take home, the Messy Tomato knows how to deliver. We recommend the breakfast platters if you’re eating in. You’ll find them at
