So, if you’re looking to hone in on some Christmas magic, you won’t want to miss the official lighting of Adelaide’s Giant Christmas Tree on Saturday November 15, 2025, right in the heart of Victoria Square / Tarntanyangga.
This lighting tradition of the 25-metre-high tree is more than just the flipping of a switch—it’s a fun, family-friendly night of fun and festive cheer, and it’s absolutely free.
So, what’s in store for the night? Hosted by the vibrant Shanelle Franklin, the night starts at 6pm followed by the tree lighting ceremony at 8:30pm. Throughout the evening you can also enjoy live entertainment from Sun of Africa, The Baker Boys, World Music SA and the talented Primary Schools Festival of Music Choir. It’s all about bringing the community together for a night of fun for all ages, that’s not just about the kids. The night is set to wrap things up at around 9pm.
Hungry? While you’re there you can chow down on some tasty grub from the food trucks, or take your own and make it into a picnic! Bring your loved ones and a blanket, settle on the grass for a night of live entertainment, and watch Adelaide sparkle and shine with this festive illumination.
