It’s hard to think that one of SA’s premium seafood experiences is situated right in the heart of a supermarket.
But Mr Nick’s Thursday night seafood dinner at Adelaide’s Finest Supermarket in Pasadena proves it’s possible, with legendary seafood towers and great-value produce.
“Seafood lovers would be hard pressed to find a supermarket anywhere in Australia with a fish selection equal or better to what’s on offer at Adelaide’s Finest,” representative of Adelaide’s finest supermarkets Kylie Fleming says.
The experience has been wowing diners at Mr Nick’s at Pasadena for more than five years, but the latest Thursday night menu is now bigger, better and tastier than ever.
There’s starters including SA oysters, flash-fried local calamari, a prawn katsu sando, lobster roll or chargrilled local prawns and bigger dishes ranging from a Malaysian seafood laska to wok-tossed Boston Bay mussels.
There’s also their legendary Seafood Tower which is ideal for sharing and has an abundance of oysters, prawns, pickled octopus, battered fish, calamari, mussels, smoked salmon, aioli, tartare sauce and Asian slaw.
That famous seafood tower is only $60, which is designed to share between 2.
The chefs at Mr Nick’s select seasonal fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs, spices, and grocery lines from within the centre which is dubbed the world’s biggest pantry.
“Seafood night is no exception with an encyclopaedic array of fish and shellfish on offer to bring out the kitchen team’s creativity,” Kylie says.
Adelaide’s Finest has built meaningful, long-term relationships with SA fishers who have been supplying locally-caught, sustainable whole fish and fillets to both stores for many years.
These local fishing heroes include Heydar Van Veen who fishes around Port Lincoln and Coffin Bay; well-known fisher Bart Butson from Port Wakefield and upper St Vincent’s Gulf and Lukina Lukin from Dinko Tuna farmers at Port Lincoln, among others.
It’s recommended you book into the Thursday night seafood experience as the weekly, family-friendly event is super popular.
“There’s a real buzz at Mr Nick’s on Thursday nights which makes the Seafood Experience an unmissable night out,” Kylie says.
The seafood experience is located in Pasadena Foodland which is widely known for its hospitality hubs, places throughout the store where you can be seated and enjoy food and drinks before, during or after you shop.
These include Salumibar, Blue Zone Kitchen, Cheesebar, Oceanicbar, Orientbar and, of course, the signature Mr Nick’s restaurant.
