Adelaide’s first authentic chai cafe Chaioz opens in North Adelaide

Chaioz, Adelaide’s first authentic chai cafe, has recently opened its doors in North Adelaide serving up different flavours of chai.

Love the aroma of spices and the rich, comforting flavours of chai tea? Chaioz, Adelaide’s first authentic chai cafe, has recently opened its doors, offering a unique fusion of Indian chai culture and modern Australian tastes.

Chaioz’s story began with the shared passion of two friends, drawn together by their appreciation for diverse cultures and the dream of crafting an unparalleled Indian-Australian chai experience.

“There was a definite gap in the market for chai in Adelaide. I did the research and there was so many people searching for Chai on Google but no place to enjoy it here,” Owner Sushant tells Glam Adelaide.

“Also a lot of the public don’t drink coffee, so I wanted to offer an alternative.”

The founders of Chaioz, driven by their vision, have dedicated countless hours to perfecting their chai recipes.

Each cup is a blend of the finest tea leaves, aromatic spices, creamy milk, and a touch of sweetness.

“Chai was developed in India not only for its flavour but also for its potential health benefits,” says Sushant, one of the owners. “Our goal was to share the flavours and traditions that define chai culture—the bustling markets, aromatic spices, and centuries-old recipes passed down through generations.”

The menu at Chaioz showcases an enticing array of 10 different chai varieties including Masala Chai, Classic Chai, Ginger Chai, Cardamom Chai, Lemongrass Chai, Saffron Chai, Pink Chai, Kashmiri Chai / Kahwa and the well-known Turmeric Chai Latte.

“Our Pink Chai, a delightful combination of rose and cinnamon, has been a showstopper. It’s not only beautifully aromatic but also naturally sweet, eliminating the need for added sugar,” Sushant says.

The response from Adelaideans has been overwhelmingly positive since Chaioz opened its doors.

“Honestly it’s been amazing so far. I wasn’t expecting it but people have loved the concept, we already have regulars who keep popping in to try all the different version of chai,” Sushant continues.

So, why did Chaioz open Adelaide’s first authentic chai cafe?

“We’re crazy about chai. My mother used to make chai every single day and we would often enjoy it more than four times throughout the day. We want to share that joy with Adelaide,” Sushant says.

As for the choice of North Adelaide, Sushant emphasises that North Adelaide is a fantastic, particularly being located near 24 hour hospitality hubs like O’Connell Bakery.

“It’s a great spot with superb ambiance. Our place can accommodate 30-40 people for dining in, and every wall tells a story of culture and fusion,” he says.

The walls of Chaioz are adorned with vibrant artwork, including a slogan that encapsulates the essence of the cafe: “Sip the fusion, taste the traditional.” It’s a fusion of Australian and Indian influences, reflected in every aspect of the cafe’s offerings.
