Adelaide’s first-ever Folk Festival is set for this month!

This mini-festival promises to showcase global musical traditions right in our backyard!

Presented by prolific folk duo Mt Kazoo and Umbrella Festival, Adelaide Folk Fest will be the first of its kind in Adelaide showcasing the incredible genre as well as some magnificent musicians.

Presenting duo Mt Kazoo were inspired to curate a special event that would hero the folk traditions and history that have informed our musical scene today.

The event wishes to showcase some of the current folk sounds that tell the stories of who the artists are and the places they live today.

At the Folk Fest, you’ll witness unique instruments, sounds and stories played by top-tier musicians hailing from Japan to Ukraine.

The event will also highlight Adelaide’s multicultural folk traditions, indigenous Australian traditions as well as the songs and stories carried over by our colonial heritage. It is important to the ethos of the event that all traditions that are represented are represented with dignity and respect.

Whether you hope to be enchanted by otherworldly melodies or just want to throw down in a hoedown, this celebration of diversity and culture should not be missed.

There will be 5 international and local music acts playing a range of traditional to contemporary folk, world, blues, country, rock and dance music over the evening. All of the musicians on the bill will showcase their immense talent and passion for their craft.

While you are enjoying the dulcet tones of the performances, you will be able to sample a wide range of food offerings with drinks supplied by SA staple, Pirate Life.

You can also cosy up with a glass of mulled wine, regular wine and non alcoholic beverages.

The event promises to provide a warm atmosphere full of fun, encouraging the wonderful inclusivity that folk music celebrates.
