A slice of Germany is coming to Adelaide this winter, as The German Club Adelaide is bringing some of the magic of a European Christmas Market to life this August. So get ready to dust off your coats and immerse yourself in some proper mid-year Christmassy vibes.
Hosted by The German Club Adelaide, the Wintermarket is rolling into town on Saturday, August 9th, from 3pm to 9pm. The German Club’s Brooklyn Park home will be transformed into a twinkling wonderland of bratwurst, mulled wine, handmade goods, and festive winter cheer, that’s ready for you to explore.
Inspired by a staple of German winter culture, the term Weihnachtsmarkt translates to the name of markets held during the four weeks of Advent. These markets are traditionally hosted on the street and are a time for locals to come together and celebrate the festive season, and enjoy all things gemütlich, which means ‘cosy and cheerful’. At this take on traditional markets, you’ll get to explore stalls showcasing everything from baked goods and festive crafts to unique gifts and German deli favourites.
The German Club Adelaide has long been a proud ambassador of South Australia’s German heritage. This event is not just about Christmas in July (or August), it’s about celebrating culture and community. So whether you’re of German descent, have visited recently and want to relive the magic, or simply have a soft spot for sauerkraut and steins, you’ll feel right at home.
So, mark your calendar for August 9th, gather your friends and family, and head to The German Club Adelaide at 41 Airport Road, Brooklyn Park. Entry is free, the vibes are festive, and there’s no better place to escape the cold than at a market full of warm hearts, rich history and delicious German food and drink.
