Adelaide’s hottest new Fringe venue plays host to a good cause

TakeHeartQLD_website-imageThe-Depot, Adelaide’s hottest new city fringe venue on Franklin Street, will play host to the “Take Heart QLD” fundraiser next Tuesday. A fantastic line-up of Adelaide Fringe acts and local performers will be entertaining the crowds for charity.

Daniel Jensen, General Manager of Sinclair Recruitment, recently moved to Adelaide from his hometown of Bundaberg in Queensland, one of several towns affected by the 2013 Queensland flooding. Motivated by his own personal connection to the devastation, Daniel gathered a group of friends and colleagues to raise much needed funds for the Australian Red Cross Queensland Floods Appeal and help the 30,000 people who have been displaced in the wake of the disaster.

The “Take Heart QLD” fundraiser will be held at The-Depot (111 Franklin Street, Adelaide) from 4pm until 10pm on Tuesday 19 February 2013. Entry is a gold coin donation, food and drinks will be available for purchase. A full line-up of entertainment is below. All proceeds from the event will go to the Australian Red Cross Queensland Floods Appeal.

Those who cannot attend the event can still show their support by donating online at http://www.redcrossfundraising.org.au/takeheartqld

Entertainment Line Up

JORDAN RURU

Originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, singer/songwriter JORDAN RURU now calls Adelaide home. With influences like Lauren Hill, Diana Washington, Etta James and Nina Simone, it is no surprise that she will move you like you have never been moved before.

THE FOUNTAINHEAD

Off the back of the successful launch of their first CD, THE FOUNTAINHEAD will get the crowd nodding their heads in approval to their Oasis-esque rock vibes and polished sound. Real musicians’ musicians, they have been steadily on the rise and don’t look like they’ll be stopping that trend anytime soon.

GUMBO YA YA

Veterans on the block, GUMBO YA YA present a rich variety of New Orleans rhythm and blues: shuffle, swing, soul and funk. Get your groove on!

THE CLIQUE

THE CLIQUE are Adelaide’s freshest soul, house and funk band. Performing a variety of originals and covers, The Clique will take inspiration from Gotye, Jamiroquai and Mark Ronson.

WEEKDAY WOLVES

Indie pop? Yes please. The three local fellas from WEEKDAY WOLVES will get the party started with rocking original tracks and nostalgic covers.

NIKAI

NIKAI is the collaboration of Adelaide sisters Sophie and Brittany McKay. Performing for over 7 years together, their upbeat acoustic style appeals to most. They are currently experimenting with new instruments and song-writing techniques.

‘Take Heart QLD’ will be hosted by Queenslander, Adelaide Fringe regular and comedian extraordinaire, LINDSAY WEBB. Webb is best known for being the only Australian to hold the Guinness World Record for the Longest Show by an Individual – 38 hours and 6 minutes! Webb will have no trouble charming the crowds for a mere 6 hours.

Event partners include the Australian Red Cross, Channel Seven Adelaide, Miller Apartments, the Adelaide Convention Centre, Sinclair Recruitment, Nucleus, Toop & Toop, Rhodes Recruitment and JL Music Publishing. We encourage more local businesses to also show support for this worthy cause.
