Adelaide’s LIV Golf tournament has clinched the prestigious title of “World’s Best Golf Event of the Year 2023” at the World Golf Awards, solidifying its place as a premier sporting spectacle on the global stage.
The inaugural Australian event, which unfolded at The Grange Golf Club from April 21 to 23, achieved remarkable success, drawing a record-breaking attendance of 77,076 spectators.
Notably, 40 percent of ticket purchases came from enthusiastic golf fans hailing from interstate and overseas.

“We took a risk when we pushed for this LIV Golf tournament, but we did so knowing it was an opportunity to put our great state on the world golfing map, and provide an impetus for thousands of golf fans around the world to come here and visit,” Premier Peter Malinauskas says.
“Those who attended the Grange Golf Course in April know how special it was – and now we’ve had official confirmation that this is the best golf event on the planet.”
Throughout the tournament, crowds witnessed a star-studded lineup of players, including the likes of Cam Smith, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, and the legendary Phil Mickelson. The competition was fierce, and the excitement in the air was palpable.
One unforgettable moment that left a lasting impression was Chase Koepka’s iconic hole-in-one on the par-3 Watering Hole at The Grange. This incredible feat was captured and shared around the world, garnering more than 55 million views on social media across LIV Golf channels.
The World Golf Awards, established in 2014, are designed to recognise and reward excellence in golf tourism, world-class golf courses, and outstanding golf destinations. These prestigious accolades are decided through a combination of votes from golf professionals and the public.
The Government has secured the hosting rights for LIV Golf tournaments for the next three years, ensuring that Adelaide will continue to be a prominent destination on the international golfing calendar.
As golf enthusiasts eagerly await the next chapter, an announcement detailing the 2024 Adelaide event is expected to be made in the coming weeks.
“We’re finalising details for the 2024 tournament with LIV organisers and look forward to making an announcement of dates in the near future,” Malinauskas says.
Adelaide’s LIV Golf tournament has not only set a new standard for excellence but has also firmly established itself as a must-attend event for golf aficionados worldwide.
