Adelaide’s MANE Shares The Simple Story Of Her Debut EP

She’s just finishing her national tour in support of debut EP ‘House Of Horrors’. Get to know the music of Adelaide chanteuse MANE as she describes her EP this track-by-track.

Enigmatic Adelaide chanteuse, MANE, is just about to come to the end of the national tour for her debut EP ‘House Of Horrors’. Now, how the music industry tends to work is that people see the new music, froth all over it, listen a couple of times, buy tickets to the show then promptly forget about the artist until they have some new music again or manage to crack some heavy radio rotation.

Now, that’s just crap, and we here at Glam Adelaide want to address the failings of the more traditional music media by ensuring that good music is always appreciated, especially when it’s coming out of Adelaide.

We like to hark back to the days of the physical album when the inner sleeve of the record was not only full or wanky arty pictures, but something meaningful directly from the artist that helped you to connect to the music in different ways every time you went back and listened. Paige Renee Court, the young lady behind the MANE moniker has been kind enough to walk us through ‘House Of Horrors’, track by track. Now, we know you’re all digital kids, but put down your tune rags for just a moment and listen up. You might learn something about these songs.

Track 1 – Bitter
This is a spiteful track about a very venomous person who was once close to a family member of mine.

Track 2 – House Of Horror
I wrote this one quite a while ago, it is a bit of a reflection of a really unhealthy relationship I had with myself combined with the fact that I was also involved in an unhealthy relationship at that point in time even though I was so totally blinded by it.

Track 3 – Ashes To The River
This song is about someone who was very aware that they were going to pass away in the near future and as terribly sad and tragic as it was they were able to write down their last wishes.

Track 4 – Valley Of Doubt
Valley of Doubt is a reflection of my own self-doubt. It’s one of those things that niggle at the back of my mind every now and then and it makes me question myself in many aspects of life. I wrote this song with production in mind, I wanted it to be fun and something you can dance to despite the negative message within the track.

Track 5 – Violent Love
Violent Love is about a terribly toxic and damaging relationship. I was tired of writing in metaphors about this particular experience so I tried to be as literal as I possibly could with this particular track.

Well there you have it, that wasn’t so hard was it. Now stop waiting for the lead single to pop up in your Spotify playlist, go back and listen to the EP again. And maybe a third time. Then make sure that MANE is a name you watch for the future, because when someone says “don’t be a crumb”, they mean show some conviction for the artists you like.
