The Mortlock Chamber and the Circulating Library of the State Library of South Australia is one of the masterpieces of SA architecture, and had been one of our favourite places for a long time. In addition to being part of a functioning library, the breathtaking building has been acknowledged amongst the most beautiful libraries in the world, making the Huffington Post’s list of The World’s Most Beautiful Libraries. A list that it undoubtedly belongs on!

So what could make one of the jewel’s in Adelaide’s crown, even better?

Wine.

It’s little wonder that the concept of soaking in the library’s history and beauty, teamed with wine tasting, has been an outrageously successful pairing.

Now, after a series of sold out events, WEA Adult Learning has announced another, new date for their State Library Tour and Wine Tasting.

Back by popular demand, you can enjoy a one hour wine tasting with WEA wine guru, David Crossman, followed by a guided tour.

The tour will include artefacts and literature from the Hardy Wine Collection and a visit to the Mortlock Chamber which displays some of the library’s oldest collections containing rare books, labels and some artefacts that go back all the way to the 1700s.

Find out more about the event, which is being held at 10:30am on September 7th. Tickets are $53 and places are extremely limited. This will sell out very quickly – so don’t say you haven’t been warned.

Buy your tickets here.

The State Library is located at the cnr of North Tce & Kintore Ave, Adelaide, South Australia.
