Adelaide’s new ‘Baddie’ party flips the script on a night out with daytime dancing, matcha shots and zero hangovers

A new alcohol-free daytime party is turning a local dessert bar into a matcha-fuelled dancefloor, offering all the fun of a night out, minus the hangover.

If you’re anything like me, and your idea of a good time involves a DJ, great music, and a room full of girlfriends, Adelaide’s newest event might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for. And don’t worry, a 3am finish or next-day hangover is not included.

Baddie Baddie Shot O’Clock is bringing a fresh twist to your usual Saturday matcha run by turning LIVO Acai and Dessert into a high-energy matcha party on May 9th.

Running from 10:30am to 1pm, the event swaps vodka shots for matcha and late nights for daylight, while still keeping the same electric atmosphere you know and love from a night out.

The concept was born from a simple idea, where the goal isn’t to replace nights out, but to offer something different. “Baddie Baddie Shot O’Clock was inspired by a simple realisation that almost every social catch-up these days revolves around alcohol or a night out in the city,” said event organiser, Mayah. “I wanted to create something that brought girls together in a different way, without needing to rely on drinking or the typical club setting.

“That being said, this isn’t about putting down nightlife or girls who love going out, because I’m very much part of that world myself. I work in Adelaide’s nightlife scene and I’m out in town every weekend and some of my closest friendships actually came from those environments. But at the same time, being so immersed in that space, I’ve also seen how intense and sometimes overwhelming it can be.”

Baddie Baddie Shot O’Clock will be a space where you can still dance, sing and hype each other up, but actually remember the conversations the next day. And the response has been immediate. The first release of tickets sold out in under 24 hours, highlighting a clear need for something new in Adelaide’s social calendar.

The event is also a collaboration with Glenelg Girls, a community focused on helping women meet, connect and support each other. It was a natural fit for an event built around inclusivity and good energy.

“Collaborating with Glenelg Girls was a natural fit. I’ve attended their events before and really admire the community they’ve built. It’s all about creating a welcoming space for girls to meet, connect, and support each other. Partnering with them helped bring that community aspect into the event from the very beginning.”

On the day, guests can expect DJ sets packed with R&B, pop classics and feel-good favourites, unlimited matcha, exclusive menu items and a lineup of giveaways. There’s even a special moment in the schedule, with DJ KaLicious making her debut.

So whether you’re coming with friends or heading down solo, everyone’s welcome, and you’ll likely leave with a few new connections.

There’s limited capacity and strong early demand, so if this sounds like something you’re keen on, get in quick!
