Hotpot Commune, the new sister restaurant to Adelaide’s beloved Gin Long Canteen, is introducing an exciting concept this school holiday season – “Schoooooool Hoooliday Kids Eat Free.”
For every adult meal purchased, the new restaurant on Greenhill Road is offering kids up to the age of 12 a free hot pot including 300 grams of fresh, fun, and yummy ingredients.
It’s perfect for families who want to try Hotpot Commune’s creative twist on the traditional dish that has a history dating back over 1000 years, originating in China.
“[I believe] this is the most family friendly hot pot in Adelaide,” Wen Khaw, co-owner of Hotpot Commune says. “In my opinion, we are currently the best hotpot in town [full stop].”
While the restaurant shares its Asian culinary roots with Gin Long Canteen, Hotpot Commune takes the spotlight with its exclusive focus on hot pot. It’s a simmering pot of Szechuan chili broth where diners can customise their meal by adding various ingredients.
“Hot pot has gained a lot of popularity among the younger crowd in Adelaide, so opening this new restaurant made a lot of sense,” Wen told Glam Adelaide when he first opened the restaurant in October.
What sets Hotpot Commune apart is its creative approach. The restaurant offers eight different soup bases which are all gluten-free and inspired by diverse Asian locations. including aromatic Thai Dry Red Curry, Malaysian Laksa, and rotating specials like vegan and gluten-free tomato soup.
The authenticity of Hotpot Commune’s dishes is unmatched, thanks to a dedicated chef who spent a year perfecting Szechuan cooking in China. Freshness is a top priority, with ingredients like vegetables and meats marinated and prepared in-house.
Hotpot Commune’s concept revolves around giving customers control over their dining experience.
Diners can pick their own ingredients, choose their preferred soup or stir-fry base, and watch as the chef prepares their personalised hot pot. This freedom and flexibility make it ideal for communal dining, particularly if you’re eating with kids or teenagers.
