The Starlight Children’s Foundation, Australia’s leading children’s charity, invites South Australians to join “the party of the decade” at the first DecAid fundraising event this November.
On Friday November 1st, the new warehouse venue Jackson Square in Hindmarsh will be transformed into an unforgettable 1980s-themed gala, featuring the best of South Australian entertainment, food, and drinks. Guests can dance the night away to iconic 80s soundtracks, while helping to raise funds for important programs at the Adelaide Women and Children’s Hospital. The event will see a live performance by Adelaide band The Cast, with Ali Clarke from Mix 102.3 as the MC.

Tickets for DecAid are priced at $140, which includes a drinks package, canapés, and live entertainment. There will be fun specials features, like a 360-degree photobooth, that will allow guests to capture the ultimate selfie in their best 80s outfits.
Starlight’s hospital programs benefit thousands of seriously ill children and their families each year. This year, DecAid aims to raise $125,000, which will support over 3,000 sick kids, like 13-year-old Abby from Happy Valley. Born with a congenital heart condition, Abby has spent much of her life in and out of hospitals, but Starlight has been there to provide support during her toughest times.
Abby, a passionate performer, finds joy in singing and dancing with Captain Starlight during her hospital visits, allowing her to escape from the realities of her treatment. Her Starlight Wish even took her to the Sydney Opera House, where she performed in front of a crowd.

“I don’t think Abby would have her passion for performing without Captain Starlight,” her mum Kylie said. “Starlight has given Abby the confidence and the ability to face her fears. Hospital becomes a happy place for her, and we will never have enough words to express our gratitude.”
“DecAid is an exciting opportunity for the Adelaide community to be part of a brand-new fundraising event that will help local sick kids like Abby,” Starlight State Partnerships Manager, Nathan Reynolds, said.
“A decade known for being bright and loud, we’re calling on residents to proudly step back in time with their nostalgic 80’s costumes and fundraise for a good cause this November.”
