Adelaide’s Newest Cinema Opens on Hindley Street

The all new GU Film House Adelaide on Hindley Street boasts 6 screens, including two Vmax and Dolby Atmos – the most advance sound technology available.

Greater Union/Event Cinemas continue to expand as Adelaide audiences flock back to the big screen more and more.

After the successful launch of the all-new GU Film House in Glenelg, the cinema chain has now flung open the doors to one of Adelaide’s most advance cinema experiences.

Launching last night in the former Greater Union site on Hindley Street, the GU Film House Adelaide is a beautifully refurbished six-cinema complex that includes two Vmax screens with contoured high back chairs, tables, double the amount of leg room, and mind-blowing Dolby Atmos sound.

Dolby Atmos is the latest breakthrough in sound technology that will leave you on the edge of your seat. With more speakers than ever before, sound can be transported to move all around you in a three-dimensional space making you a part of the action. You have never heard anything like this before, with Dolby Atmos new to South Australia and exclusive to GU Film House Adelaide.

We got to experience the Dolby Atmos sound at the GU Film House Adelaide launch last night, which included the premier of the new film Deepwater Horizon. With speakers around and above us, the sound is as close to real life as you’d ever want to get in a disaster film!

Check out our photos below of the grand opening, then get down to 128 Hindley Street in the city to experience Adelaide’s newest and most advance cinema yet!
